Phil Maddux

Co-FOUNDER

A landscape architect since 1966, now retired, Phil Maddux has had a long career focused on tropical design around the world. You’ll find Phil’s designs in South Florida, New York, California, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Africa. Later in his career, Phil studied in the department of Botany at Harvard to further his knowledge of landscape design. This is the same department of Botany that was started at Harvard by Asa Gray, Phil’s great grand-uncle. Phil now spends his retirement maintaining his home garden, the Palm City Botanical Garden.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Silvia Maddux

Co-FOUNDER

Silvia moved to the United States from Switzerland in 1975. Her botanical career began in 1987, which was the genesis of the Palm City Botanical Garden. In her time of developing the garden, she has mastered knowledge of over 1000 plant varieties.
